View Full Version : Vedit suddenly started failing on Windows 7 system

June 25th, 2013, 08:25 AM
Been using Vedit for many years.
Suddenly, in the last week, I get the "VEDIT Editor has stopped working" error no matter how I try to start up VEDIT.
This also occurs on the Uninstall of the program (trying to uninstall and reinstall).
It happens in the VPW.EXE and the VPW64.EXE.
I have re-installed v64-6231.exe but still see the same problem.
Anyone out there had this problem?
Suggestions are welcomed.

Hi John,

Some thoughts:

1. Try starting vedit as the first program after a reboot. A problem I have/had went away after a reboot.

2. Have you tried renaming your vedit.cfg and ustartup.vdm to eliminate anything in them as the cause?

3. any new software on your system that might cause a problem with vedit?

4. you could try the windows compatibility feature by clicking on properties of the vedit icon and fooling vedit into think it is running under XP.

When does it actually fail? Do you ever see the vedit screen? After the first keystroke?

I overlooked the obvious.
I did the restart (reboot) and surprise, my system blue screened.
I have a Boot SSD which is mirrored to a hard drive.
Fortunately, the mirror booted OK.
Main point is there is no problem with VEDIT, just with my system.
Thank you again.
