Having read over this thread, I don't see any obvious problems or solutions. I know that some people who have used VEDIT for a long time have a very unique configuration and setup for many files....

I will consider that a bug to be fixed soon.

Only VEDIT 6.2x and later will install and work properly on Windows 7.
You probably do not need the VEDIT-Pro 64-bit version, regardless of whether you have the 32 or 64 bit version of Windows.

Correct. I try not to use the registry for configuration, but the toolbar API only works with the registry.

The saved file is in binary; there is no way to humanly understand it.

Exactly. .cmd might be treated as an executable or dangerous file type. I think either Windows or your antivirus is blocking it.

Perhaps the solution is to perform a Config(F_OVER_MODE,0,LOCAL) immediately after search.tmp is opened.
